The Ambitious Guest by Nathaniel Hawthorne was first published in The New-England Magazine in June 1835, it was republished in the second volume of Twice-Told Tales in 1841.

The Great Stone Face by Nathaniel Hawthorne was first published in 1850. The story later appeared in the collection, The Snow-Image, and Other Twice-Told Tales in 1852.
